Instrumental Music with the Colorado Honor Band has had a long and distinguished history. Our instrumental ensembles have been in existence in the metropolitan area since 1953, and have established a reputation for excellence over the past 55 years.  Colorado Honor Band Association has graduated students who now are playing in leading symphonies across the country, community adults bands in the Colorado area,  professional jazz groups and rock bands, as well as working for financial institutions, attending universities, teaching at universities, and donating their time back to their communities.

Over the past 55 years, our ensembles have performed at International Music Festivals, World's Fairs, Colorado Music Educators Association Convention, and numerous concerts and parades in the Denver Metro Area.  Our staff members have been nominated to state level positions and sponsored festivals in their respective school districts.

Private instrumental teachers, the Home School Association, and many public school teachers rank the Colorado Honor Band as one of the best community opportunities for young students.  We encourage individual achievement and progress, provide experiences through travel, and advocate responsibilities and leadership to aid growth and development.  Music is a vital means by which to reach a universal goal - to enrich one’s life.   The permanent directors are supported by a staff of professional musicians, teachers, and returning alumni.

The Colorado Honor Band  serves students throughout the greater Metropolitan area including:
  • Adams County on the north

  • Douglas County on the south

  • Elbert County on the southeast

  • Boulder County on the west

95% of our graduating seniors go on to colleges and universities with 87% receiving scholarships.

Each year, CHBA has approximately 400 active student members that comprise:

  • Seven Beginning Bands

  • Three Intermediate Bands

  • An Advanced Band, Symphonic Band, Symphony Winds, and two Jazz Ensembles.

90% of our students participate in All County Bands and Orchestras in the State.
