1.
How do I become a member?
Complete this
inquiry form and a CHBA
representative will contact you within 2 business days. There is also more
information on the joining page.
2. When does the program start?
The Colorado Honor Band is a year around program. We audition
all students except for Beginners all year around. Any other student joining
the organization in September auditions before coming in; the last two Mondays
in August.
3. Who supports the organization?
The Colorado Honor Band is a nonprofit organization supported
by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities Districts of Arapahoe County, Denver
County, and Jefferson County, the Mobil Oil Foundation for matching funds,
Oppenheimer Foundation for matching funds, Colorado State Bank and Trust,
private individuals, Golden Eagle Printing, and the participants.
Click here for more information about donating to the
organization.
4. Do students belong to the school band and CHBA?
We certainly hope so. All students are encouraged to belong to
both programs. The school instrumental program always takes priority if there
is a conflict. We always work the situation out with the school band director.
5. Does a student need any experience to join?
CHBA
has five levels of band during the school year and
two levels of band in the summer. We take new beginning band students who do
not know anything in September. The Fall flyers are available in area music
stores by the 2nd week in August and many of the school band
directors have the flyers, just ask. You may also call the main office for
more specific information.

FAQs for
Current Members
1. Do I need to wear my uniform to the dress rehearsal?
No. This rehearsal is simply a sound check and a chance for
the directors and students to rehearse in the performance location with all
the students.
2. As a Beginning or Intermediate student, how many times a
week may we attend the Instrumental Workshops?
Students are encouraged to attend as many workshops a week as
the parents’ schedules allow. The only catch is that they are located in a
different center each night of the week.
3. Why does my monthly bill show that I still owe for last
month?
Any amount received after we close our books is not reflected
in the next month’s billing. Our books close the third Monday of the month
at 9:00 p.m. Any amount received after that date will not show.
4. Will the office personnel give a message to my child at the
Grant Ave. workshops?
We always do our best to give a message to your child but it
isn’t always right away.
The person in the office has a job to do and unless it is an
emergency we request that you do not send messages.
5. Why can’t I talk to Mrs. Smith when I call?
On Monday nights Mrs. Smith is very busy supervising, talking
to students, directors and parents. She is seldom in the office. If you leave
a message she will try and call you back that evening or the next day.
6. Why can’t I talk to the Director or teacher when I call?
The Director and teachers are usually busy teaching. We
will be glad to give them a message to call you back. We do not give out their home
phone numbers.
