CHBA 2008 SUMMER CAMP

When:  Sunday, June 8Thursday, June 12  2008

Where:  CSU, Fort Collins

Cost:  $335.00 for current CHBA members

$350.00 for non-members (amount was due May 5)

Concert:  7:00 p.m., June 12

 

Students report at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. You must provide your own transportation to and from Summer Camp.  This will be four days full of sectionals, full-band rehearsals, and CSU Recreation Center access, including the pool, basketball courts, weight room, running track, and in-line hockey rink.  Plan now so you can be a part of this exciting week! 

 

 

Location

Students will stay and have all rehearsals in Edwards Dorm.  Housing will be 2 per room, with roommates decided before camp (students will choose).  We eat in the dining hall, where there is a wide variety of choices (plus peanut butter).

 

 

Recreation

Students will have access to the recreation center, with CHBA staff supervising.  Facilities include basketball courts, running track, weight room (must be over 16), swimming pool, and in-line rink to play hockey.  Hockey equipment is available (free):  sticks, pucks, goals.  There are video games in the dorm; students must pay to play.

 

 

Registration

All participants must complete a Health form—this form is your reservation.  The form does not need to be signed by a doctor, but please give us up-to-date information for the healthcare person on-site.  Health forms are available under forms on the website or you may pick up a hard copy at band.  Health and Summer Camp Registration Form.

Camp participants signed up for their own roommates on April 21.

ADDITIONAL CAMP INFORMATION

Summer Winds students may bring CDs to play for the dance. 

Mr. Otis and Mr. Farmer will be the DJs and all students in both bands will attend.  We all dance and everyone has a great time.

Additional Charges: $40.00 for each lost key; $40.00 for broken or missing window screens.  Students will be charged a custodial fee for excessive trash left in their room.  Students’ room numbers were posted in the main lobby on Monday, May 12, and were made available at the Intermediate Rehearsal on Wednesday, May 21.  Students will not be allowed to call long distance (home) from the phone in their room.  If they abuse either their room phones or their cell phones, we will confiscate the phones.  Each room has full Internet access with an Ethernet hook-up, but there are NO computers. 

 

Please discourage students from calling home.  Let them tell you all about camp on Thursday.  This experience is as much about growth and development as it is about music.  Help us to help students grow.

Schedule variations:

** Tuesday evening we will have the recreation center to ourselves from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

** Wednesday evening we will host a dance from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m.

** Thursday evening will be a capstone concert for friends and family at 7:00 p.m.
